Barcelona is the capital and the most populous city of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. It is located on the Mediterranean coast.
There is the Catalan government. The Parliament of Catalonia is the legislature of the Spanish Autonomous Community of Catalonia. The Parliament building is located in the Ciutadella Park. Barcelona has also important airport: The Barcelona International Airport.
The Port of Barcelona has a 2000-year history and it is Europe's ninth largest container port. Barcelona has several skyscrapers as the Hotel Arts, the Torre Mapfre and the Torre Agbar. The Torre Mapfre is a skyscraper in the Olympic Port.
The Montjuic Communications Tower is a telecommunication tower. The white tower was built for Telefonica to transmit television coverage of the 1992 Summer Olympics Games. It represents an athlete holding the Olympic Flame.
The most famous is also The Olympic Stadium of Barcelona. A great number of buildings are World Heritage Sites. Especially remarkable is the best known work, the Sagrada Família. The Placa de la Sagrada Familia has become a very important touristic and commercial nucleus. Barcelona has a several interesting monuments.


The Columbus Monument is a 60 m tall monument for Christopher Columbus. Portal de l'Àngel is a pedestrian street it is one of the city's most visited streets.
You can go to one of the city's many champagne or cocktail bars and a good restaurant or discotheques, clubs or live music clubs. Visitors, who can express their own musical talents, can go to karaoke club. Other attractions of Barcelona are theatres or cinemas, festivals and concerts. Barcelona also is home to the Sonar Music Festival and the Catalonia National Symphonic Orchestra, which is the largest symphonic orchestra in Catalonia. You can visit the National Museum of Art or the Picasso Museum.
Barcelona contains 68 municipal parks that consist of historic, botanical, urban and forest parks. You can find there Montjuic Park, Park Güell, Can Dragó Sports Park and the Labyrinth Park.

Barcelona offers excellent beaches. The most popular beaches include Barceloneta, Mar Bella, Nova Icaria and Bogatell. Sebastià and Barceloneta are the larges, oldest and the most frequented beaches. The Nova Icaria beach is full of fantastic beachside bars and restaurants. The Mar Bella Beach is ideal beach for water sports and Bogatell Beach for cyclists and joggers.
L’Aquàrium de Barcelona is the most important marine leisure and education centre in the world concerning the Mediterranean. The Aquarium of Barcelona is an ideal place to see the sea bed. It is the most important, ultra modern aquarium and belongs among the biggest aquariums in the world. Main attractions are 80 m underwater shark tunnel and tree storeys interactive centre, where you can see piranhas or penguins.
Other attraction is the Zoo or Tibidabo. The zoo offers a number of educational programmes for children and it is one of the oldest and most modern in the world. Tibidabo is a family amusement park.
