Costa Rica


Republic of Costa Rica is a country in Central America. It borders both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. Costa Rica is composed of seven provinces: San José, Alajuela, Cartago, Heredia, Guanacaste, Puntarenas and Limon. Together they offer an attractive tourist destination. Costa Rica is a democratic and peaceful country. It is a place of national parks, wildlife refuges, biological reserves, protected zones, forest reserves and wetlands.
You can choose a lot of activities in Costa Rica, including Bird and Wildlife Watching, Canoeing, Chocolate Tours or Coffee Tours, Golfing, Surfing, Hiking, Mountain Biking or Turtle Tours. One of the most wonderful activities for people, who love nature, is bird watching. Because of great diversity of climates, temperatures and forest types, there is a wonderful variety of birds (about 800 species). Costa Rica is home to a rich variety of animals and plants. It is also a centre of biological diversity for reptiles and amphibians. Costa Rica has diverse landscapes, flora and fauna. You can find there rain forests, dry tropical and temperate forests, volcanoes, Caribbean and Pacific beaches or high mountains and marshy lowlands.
Costa Rica is one of the most seismological active countries in the western hemisphere. There are volcanoes Poas, Irazu and Arenal. Irazo is the highest active volcano in Costa Rica.





Costa Rica
has some of the best beaches in the world. The country's biggest and most popular beach destinations are Corcovado, Dominical, Jacó and Tortuguero beach. Corcovado is the main beach with black sand beaches. Dominical is the biggest surfing destination with a good nightlife. Jacó is a surfer's paradise full of nightlife and casinos. Costa Rica is a paradise of beautiful beaches.





Costa Rica
is world famous for tropical forests. There are tropical mammals such as monkeys, sloths, tapirs, wild cats and a lot of species of insects and other animals. There are a lot of beautiful butterflies. Butterfly gardens are especially popular in many tourist towns. There are several botanical gardens too. The largest national park in the world is the Northeast Greenland National Park. The Corcovado National Park is the one park in Costa Rica where all four Costa Rican monkey species can be found.











There are the White-headed Capuchin, the Mantled Howler and the endangered Geoffroy's Spider Monkey. Tortuguero National Park is home to spider, the three-toed sloth, the endangered green turtle and 320 species of birds. You can find there rainforest, swamps, beaches and lagoons.
The small country of Costa Rica offers a large amount of museums. All of the main museums are in San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica. For the people, who like nature, there are the Natural science museum and the small Entomology Museum in the University of Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is one of the most highly valued tourist destinations in the world.
