World's cheapest car

The Tata Nano

New Delhi - India's Tata Motors at the ninth Auto Expo in Delhi on Thursday introduced the Tata Nano, the world's cheapest production car expected to cost just 100,000 rupees (2,500 dollars).

Ratan Tata, the 70-year-old chairman of the Tata group, India's largest private conglomerate, is the brainchild behind the Nano.

This four-door car has a 33 horsepower, 623 cc engine at the rear and can reach a maximum speed of over 100 kilometres per hour. It has a length of 3.1 metres, width of 1.5 metres and height of 1.6 metres.

It has some disadvantages, like no radio, air conditioning or passenger-side mirror and only one windscreen wiper.

Nano costs less than half the price of India's cheapest car (Maruti 800). It is a safe, affordable and all-weather transport - a people's car designed to meet all safety standards and emissions laws and be accessible to all.

The car will be manufactured at the company's facility in the eastern state of West Bengal. It needs some improvements of the installed capacities that may not happen until year 2010-2011.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT DAY IS TODAY?

March 21 is the first day of spring. It is a time when nature begins to awake from its long winter sleep and new life begins. Nights get shorter and days get longer. There is more sunshine and it becomes warmer and warmer.

The world around us is coming to life again and now is the time to renew, recharge and freshen up the world around us. Soon in gardens and woods the first flowers appear: white snowdrops and snowflakes, yellow marsh marigolds, dandelions and daffodils, blue forget-me-nots, coloured tulips, purple violets etc. Birds such as swallows, starlings, cuckoos come back from the south and we can hear them singing again.

Spring also has some disadvantages. It is an allergy season. This time of year, trees are the main cause of seasonal allergy symptoms. This will be followed by grasses in late spring and early summer.

Some traditional spring activities are spring cleaning, gardening, first grass cutting. Spring is the time to prune your plants.

Some Spring holidays celebrated are Ash Wednesday, St. David’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Mothers Day, Good Friday, Palm Sunday, Easter, St. George’s Day, May Day, Dawn Chorus Day.

Mothers Day is celebrated in March in the United Kingdom and in May in America

I watch the seasons come and go,
I hear the robin sing,
And in my Winter-weary heart
I know that it is Spring.

Legumes...

LENTILS, PEAS, BEANS...

It’s a pity, but legumes are TOTALLY out. Short of 200 years ago, there wasn’t a Slovak housewife without the bag of dry legumes. They were used for soups, gruels, etc. – healthy and cheap food for whole family. Then the potatoes came from America and replaced them.

Well-known legumes include beans, lentils, peas, soybeans, garbanzo, etc.

BEANS:

Beans are one of the longest-cultivated plants. They were an important alternative source of protein throughout old and new world history, and still are today.

LENTILS:

With 26% protein, lentils have the third highest level of protein from any plant-based food. They are an important part of the diet in many countries, especially in Nepal and India, which have large vegetarian population.

SOYBEANS:

Soybeans are an important global crop, providing oil and protein. They originated from Asia. The

most common forms of soybeans include soy meal, soy milk, soy flour, tofu and soybean oil.

PEAS:

A pea is an annual plant. It is used as a fresh vegetable, frozen or canned. It is also grown to produce dry peas like split pea.

Split peas are the dried peeled and split seeds of pea. They can be yellow or green.

CHICKPEA or GARBANZO:

Chickpeas are one of the earliest cultivated vegetables. They have a lot of protein. Chickpeas can be cooked and eaten cold in salads, cooked in stews or ground into flour. Garbanzo can be also fermented to make an alcoholic drink similar to sake.

Vegetables, especially legumes, are very healthy, so we should eat them.
