The end of the Slovak extraleague is here and and fans are looking forward on play-off. This season was as similar as seasons in the past but one man was extraordinary. Yes it is Žigmund Pállfy. "Ziggy" as is called by his teammates overrun the historical 15 years record of extraleague in points productivity /100 points /and scored 51 goals which was the best as well. The last player with this productivity was Pavol Demitra with 99 points in the season 2004/2005. But Žigo achieved much more succesess :

He was born 5th May 1972 in Skalica. Here has began with hockey. As 15 years boy he changed to Dukla Trenčín. In 1991/1992 which Dukla won the Feredal league he was selected as the best youngster of the season. The next year he was drafted by the NHL club New York Islanders. During the two seasons he improved on the best player in the team. He was leading in producitvity not in his team but in whole NHL !! In 1999 he was traded to Los Angeles Kings because of high salary. Here he was an asisstant of captain an his attacking line with his friend Jozef Stumpel and Luc Robitaille was the best in whole league. In 2005/2006 he signed contract with another NHL club Pittsburgh Penguins. But the season wasn´t very long. After a couple of months Ziggy announced the end of the career due to groin injury.

He was a member of 2002 World Hockey Championship on which we won the gold medal as well. He represented Slovakia on 5 world championships and two olympic games.

In 2007/2008 he announced return playing hockey for his hometown club HK 36 Skalica . As we can see he has made very good decision. So Ziggy good luck in your future career !!!
