Prague

Prague is the capital and the largest city of the Czech Republic. The extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites since 1992. Prague is a unique city and it is also a tourist centre. Prague has become one of Europe's the most popular tourist destinations. The tourism plays an important role here. Prague has a reputation the one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The historical heart of the city spreads across both banks of the River Vltava and consists of six quarters as The Old Town, New Town, Lesser Town, Josefov, Hradčany and Vyšehrad. Prague belongs among the most expensive cities of Eastern Europe. The most important symbol of Prague is the Prague Castle. The Czech Crown Jewels are kept here. According to Guinness World Records, Prague Castle is the largest medieval castle in the world.












The Old Town Square is the one of two main squares in the city centre and it is a historic square in the Old Town. This square has an ancient buildings and magnificent churches and it is one of the most beautiful historical sights in Europe. The Old Town Square's most notable sights are the Church of Our Lady before Tyn, the Old Town Hall Tower & Astronomical Clock and the magnificent St. Nicholas Church. The tourists can find the Astronomical Clock on this square and the tower at the Old Town Hall offers a panoramic view of Old Town. The Prague Astronomical Clock or Prague Orloj is a medieval astronomical clock. The Orloj is inserted on the southern wall of Old Town City Hall in the Old Town Square and is a popular tourist attraction. The Orloj is composed of three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details.





Charles Bridge is a famous historical bridge that crosses the Vltava River. The bridge was originally called the Stone Bridge or the Prague Bridge. The bridge is 516 meters long and nearly 10 meters wide, The Old Town bridge tower is often considered to be one of the most amazing civil gothic-style buildings in the world. Among the very remarkable place belongs the Golden Street. The Dancing House is the nickname given to the Nationale-Nederlanden building in downtown Prague. The Petřín lookout tower is a 62 metres high steel construction tower. It is often described as small version of the Eiffel Tower. It was used as an observation tower and as a transmission tower. Today it is a major tourist attraction.













Josefov is previous Jewish ghetto and there are six synagogues and famous medieval cementery and Jewish town hall. The Old New Synagogue is situated in Josefov and id is Europe's oldest active synagogue. We can find there also the first wax museum, The Wax Museum Prague, which offers figures famous celebrities from all over the world. Another interesting museum is Museum of toys, where you can find the second biggest exposition of toys. You can admire wooden, mechanical, plushy or sectional toys. Very interesting museum is the Museum of marionette culture, you can look there hanging and manycoloured marionettes. The general attractions are figures of Spejbl and Hurvínek. Opera and classical concerts are another highlight, with performances taking place in the Prague opera houses, concert halls and churches all over the city. Finally there is the world famous Czech beer.
